Fighting Demons 101

Josh and Matt had troubles handling their demons. Matt looked at Marie for help, but she was too busy getting free from another’s demon’s grip.

For the first time Josh was wondering why Usha hasn’t come back yet to help. He hadn’t completely accepted her, in fact he still much doubted her. But right now, he could use her help.

Suddenly Matt started choking. The demon has gotten his hands on his neck. Josh cursed and desperately tried to push away his enemy.

Matt was starting to lose his sense, when he started breathing again.

Usha was here.

With her hands she pierced Matt’s demon’s back and pulled out his heart. He fell, dead.

“It was about time.” Josh said finally pushing off his demon and stabbing him in the heart.

Usha ignored his comment and went over to help Marie. She grabbed the demon and threw him towards Josh who prominently stabbed him while still on the ground.

Usha went over to the brothers stepping over the demon’s corpses.

“Fighting 101,” she said cleaning her hands, “surprise the enemy.”

Drive Fast

Maybe it was because of the movies she had seen. Maybe for the adrenaline her cautious nature has never let her feel. But she wanted to push the gas so fast.

She breathed slowly through her mouth. Hands on the steering wheel getting sweaty. She started doubting she really wanted it.Did she? After all there were so many other things she wanted to do.

Screw it. She thought Death itself told her she is not going to die today. But what if saying the day she was going to die changed everything? Changed destiny?

She turned on the radio high volume so she wouldn’t hear her thoughts.

Oh God. She pushed the gas and the car jumped on the empty highway. At first it didn’t go that fast, but as she continue, it started gaining speed. She focused on keeping the car still, eyes fixed in front of her. She could see the horizon changing every minute, every second. With the corner of her eye she saw everything was being swept away.

Terrifying,

Exciting,

She screamed of joy.

Oh adrenaline I wish I had known you long ago.

Stand By Me

Usha lit a cigarette as the music started.

“You used to have good music!” She said breathing out, listening to Ben E. King’s Stand by Me, in the empty bar.

“No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid…” she sang. She stood up and went to Josh, taking his hand.

“Forget it” he snapped. “I’m not dancing.”

“I can force you, you know.”

“It’s the only way for me to dance.”

And suddenly Josh stood up and took her hand, put one on her back and started dancing.

Matt started laughing.

“I’ll deal with you later!” Josh said to his brother.

But Matt found himself standing as well. He went over to Marie, and started dancing,

Usha smiled as she danced and finished her cigarette.

“I really don’t know what happened to good manners” she said winking to Marie. She blushed at looked at her feet as she danced with an embarrassed Matt.

Usha smiled. A good drink, a cigarette and good music, was a perfect way to end the day.

Five-Star Dinner

When it was time for dinner, Usha would choose her restaurant just as humans did. She usually decided on a five-star dinner at a hotel restaurant. There food was the most delicious.

She sipped her martini in one of the best five-star hotel bar in town. She knew she wouldn’t go unnoticed and not because she was wearing a little red dress, that showed enough but left space for imagination. But because she was made to be noticed. It was a mean to an end. Like bees are attracted to flowers.

So far she turned down three bees. This night she wanted the best; to dine in the suite of the hotel. And he came, dressed in an Armani suit.

“I’d love to offer you another drink. Maybe in my room, the view is just as beautiful as the one I have right in front of me.”

Usha smiled. Her dinner has just arrived.

“I hope it’s worth it.” She said grabbing her purse and following the man in the elevator.

The suite was immense. She went to the balcony and the view was in fact beautiful. Full of noise, movement, life.

“I told you” he said offering her champagne.

She smiled taking the glass and sipped her champagne eyes fixed on him.

“Is this was people want?” she suddenly want, “Money, nice big house with a beautiful view, a good-looking companion? Is this what you want?”

The man thought for a moment.

“This is what everyone wants and I’m lucky I got it.”

She smiled unsatisfied. This wasn’t the answer she had expected, this wasn’t the answer he has given to her years ago.

She took his glass and placed it on the small side table next to her.

She moved away, turned and unzipped her dress letting it fall.

“Wow” he said going to her, “This is a spectacular view.”

She smiled and went over to kiss him. He didn’t let her wait; he held her tights and pulled her up moving towards the bed. He let her fall gently and started kissing and touching her as he undressed, his hands touching her everywhere.

As he kissed her, she tasted him. Smelled him and heard his blood rushing and pumping.

She moved on top and looked at him breathing heavily. She lowered to kiss him once more, moved to his neck and bite him.

He started screaming his hands trying to get rid of her. With one hand she shut his mouth and the other held both his hands. She started eating deeper, the deeper she went, the move he tried to get free. But it was no use; she was stronger than any human.

She started eating and drinking his flesh and blood. She moved to his chest and started biting her way to his heart, chewing bones and flesh. She looked at his heart pumping crazily and started eating while it was still alive. Then it stopped and he stopped moving.

She finished the heart, wishing humans had two. She cleaned her mouth his the back of her hand and went to take her champagne. She went to the man again and took one of his eyes and let it sink in her glass.

All covered in blood, she decided to clean before meeting the brothers. She went to the bath and filled the Jacuzzi.

“Hmmm” she said letting the water wrap around her. “This is what people want.”

She ate the eye, and finished her champagne as she washed and water turned red.

Learn Through TV

“How are we supposed to fight something that is supernaturally stronger than us.” Josh asked.

Usha stopped eating her fries.

“Really? Not even a clue?”

No one answered.

“You guys should watch more TV.” She licked her fingers and with a sigh disappeared.

“Where the hell did she go?” Josh asked arms opened frustrated.

Matt and Marie shrugged.

“Maybe you–” Marie started but she was back.

“Here” she said putting on the table some DVDs and going back to her fries.

“Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Carnivàle…” Matt read through the DVDs boxes titles.

“Yes, 70% is actually true.” She said finishing her fries.

Josh shook his head. “No weapons, no training. Nothing?”

“Theory and then practice.” she said standing. “And while you study, mommy will go and have fun.”

She blowed them a kiss and was gone.

Usha

You might have noticed I have been writing much about Usha. Another short story project that hopefully will reach the end. Because I have it all started in my mind from the end.

Briefly, Usha is helping Josh and Matt find their father. Somewhere in the story Marie (Josh and Matt childhood friend) decides to join the team. What and why is Usha helping? You’ll know as you read! Or when I finish the story’s page.

As for the other stories:

Dreamwalker needs something to connect what I have in mind. It’s still in the work in progress.

The Adventures of Elena Rose and Cleo, should see new bits published soon.

La Dolce Vita, comes with memories, my own or others.

Damon Vs Karen

“What do you want from her?” Karen said shutting the door behind her.

“You know perfectly well.”

“I will protect her, and won’t let you or anyone else do any harm to her.” She said folding her arms.

“Why? Why is she different?”

“Because she is my friend.” Karen almost shouted. “She will not die because some selfish fallen angel wants his keys back to heaven.”

“Oh yes she will, and if you don’t step back, you will die too.” He stopped, looking at her.

“What are you really hiding? I know you, don’t fool me with this friendship story. why her?”

“For the same reason you want to kill her, she is special, and strong.”

Damon smiled and vanished.

Karen sat on the floor, holding her head. She knew she couldn’t do anything against a fallen angel, he was much stronger than her. If Audrey’s dies she will be in great trouble. Her boss won’t like it. And Damon would attract more troubles.

She had to let plan B start.

Irene

“Where is he?” asked Usha hands on the back’s chair.

Irene was tied to another chair, with a salt circle on the floor that kept her from escaping.

“You know I don’t answer to you” Irene said with a smile.

“And who do you answer to?” asked Josh moving forward. Usha looked at him. This wasn’t the plan. She was supposed to interrogate Irene and they were supposed to assist in silence.

Irene saw the weakness, and smiled to Usha.

“Ask her” she said looking at Josh. Matt went next to his brother. They both looked at Usha who remained eye fixed on Irene.

“What does she mean?” asked Josh pulling her so she could look at them.

But Usha remained silent.

“I knew we couldn’t trust you!” Josh shouted.

“Of course not! She is the last thing you should trust.” Irene said laughing.

Usha turned towards the brothers. “I’m sorry.” She snapped her fingers and the brothers were gone. Sent back to their motel with Marie.

“Oh they don’t know…” Irene folded her legs, “I guess they won’t be very happy when they find out.”

“And I guess you won’t be happy when I finish with you.”

Alliances

“Who are you?” asked Josh irritated.

“Can’t answer that.” Usha replied bluntly, sitting on a chair folding her legs.

“All I can say,” she continued, “I can help you find your father.” With a finger she touched the chair she was sitting on. It was filthy. Just as she has suspected. Maybe next time I should make these meetings somewhere else, than a motel. I don’t know why movies use it this much.

“And why would you do that?”

“I need him.” she cleaned her finger with a tissue she found on the table.

Silence.

Josh laughed looking at Matt’s concerned face.

“What? You really think we should trust her?”

He shrugged. “We have no other choice.”

“She is of the same kind of those who kidnaped our father.” Josh pointed out aggressively.

Usha laughed loudly.

“Same kind! Oh please! I’m stronger than those bastards who took your father.”

“My answer is no.”

“But Josh–”

“I said no” Josh interrupted. “We don’t make alliances with our enemies.”

Josh grabbed his brother’s arm and pulled him towards the room’s door.

“That’s a pity.” Usha said standing.

The brothers stopped and looked at her.

“What do you mean?” Josh asked irritated.

“You will die, even before knowing who has your father, and eventually he will die too.”

She stood and stopped an inch away Josh’s face.

“You don’t know what’s really out there.” she barely whispered.

Damon

Audrey’s had eyes only for Patrick, the History teacher, and this made everything even more difficult.

He knew he had this aura that attracted everyone to him. It was who he was. But apparently it had little effect on who was in love.

He needed to take care of Patrick.

And of Karen of course. He knew she wouldn’t tell her who he was. That would risk revealing her identity as well. But Karen would do anything to keep him from getting near to Audrey, and this was not in his plans.

He saw her putting her books away in her locker.

“Hi” he said leaning on the locker next to her.

“Hi” She smiled and looked away. If it was someone else, she wouldn’t stop staring at him.

He had two options: try to be her friend or just get the job done.

“You know…” she suddenly said. “Karen … told me you know each other.”

He raised an eyebrow.

“She did? What else did she say?”

“You wouldn’t like it. But she always overreact, you know.”

Damon simply smiled and nodded.

“You’re hungry? I was going to get something, maybe you can join me and tell me about you and Karen. I’m sure we can sort this out.”

She is even more stupid than I had imagined. He thought.

“I’m starving.”
